The fashion chain C & A is examining the expansion into China and the digital sector. This could include partnerships and external investments, said the Swiss family holding Cofra on Monday. She responded to a report by Spiegel Online, according to which the owner family Brenninkmeijer plans a sale of 1841 founded fashion company to China.
Growth market China
“C & A looks back on outstanding business performance in 2017, and we want to build on that momentum through further innovation and expansion.” As the company evolves, it also explores ways to gain a foothold in strong growth markets such as China.
A C & A spokesperson in Dusseldorf did not want to comment on the Spiegel report. C & A has recently been struggling with declining sales. Increasing online commerce and low-priced suppliers such as Primark have troubled the chain. At the beginning of August, former Rewe boss Alain Caparros took over management of C & A Europe in order to get the family business back on track.
